Somali youth volunteers Association (SOYVA) was established in May, 2010 in Mogadishu, Somalia. It is non-religious, non-profit, non-apolitical, non-ethnic, non-regional and independent civil society organization geared towards the achievement of peace in greater Somalia. It is a youth organization that provides a platform for empowering young people, women, and communities in large through civil education, Sports and community development, Humanitarians Aid, peace building and good governance. SOYVA has members from all walks of life, irrespective of academic status and political affiliation. It consists of young people from the different parts of Somalia. SOYVA seeks to bring the youth together by identifying and nurturing their talents, so that they can help each other. SOYVA’s program focuses on youth exchange programs that provide voluntary opportunities to Somali youth. Being a voluntary organization SOYVA has the capacity of mobilizing international and national volunteers to participate in community development projects and give them chance to gain experience from those different challenging projects.
